Here are some FAQs. If you have queries, please check this first. --Settings Get your ISP's manual ready. In most cases SMTP, POP server, and account settings are in the manual. Please take care when you copy the settings from the other mail software or browser : the settings might be different. --Test it first Make sure you connected to the Internet, then use postman to send the test mail to yourself. Put your e-mail address in "To:", and click "Call postman". Wait for a while (1~2 minutes) and click "Mail Check". Did you get the mail? When the window turned to rainbow color, it is now communicating with the mail server. Do not stop it before it is finished. Check the set-up...Something might be wrong. --If you cannot send the mail... The "Mail sent" message is shown when the mail is sent successfully. (It is also shown when guest's pet goes out of the house.) If the message is not shown, the set-up could be wrong. Check the SMTP server setting again. Input it again accurately. --If you cannot receive the mail... When network error message is shown, or when you cannot receive the test mail sent to yourself, check POP account and e-mail address again. And input your password again carefully (is the alphabet capital or small?) Then, try it again. --Everything is OK but I still cannot receive. Sometimes you have to wait when communicating with the mail server. If there is no reply from mail server, PostPet will cut the communication in 2 minutes. Try it again later. Sometimes your mail server is not working well. Wait for 2 or 3 hours and try again. Try this: --Use PostPet alone. This is effective for application error Your computer may show error message when you open PostPet and other mail software, browser, and so on. This depends on available memory, but it is advisable to open PostPet alone. If an application error occurs when communicating with your mail server, the mail received will not be shown in the "In-box" screen. In this case you can use a text editor to read the text of the mail. Pet does not come home until your friend receives your mail. If your friend does not receive the mail for a long time, pet gives up in 12~24 hours and returns home leaving the mail on your friend's server. Your friend might have downloaded your mail with a non-PostPet mailer and trapped your pet in its mailer. Your pet can only return half a day later. Pet cannot come home until "Mail check" button is clicked. While the pet is away, pass your mail to postman to send. Hand the mail to the pet only when your friend has PostPet. The data of your pet is kept in your software. So, if this happens, wait for a half day and the pet will be revived. If you have used other mail software and trapped someone's pet, do not send it back! If you do so, you might damage the data of his/her pet. (This is very harmful for him/her.) If it is trapped in, it will be revived a half day later. It is better to use PostPet only. PostPet is a special kind of mail software, if you use two softwares at the same time you might trap your friend's pet, or even, your own pet. If you really want to use both mailers, try the following. (1) Receive the mail from the other mail software Set the software to "keep the mail on the server". There might be that a friend's pet is trapped in this mailer but you can ignore it. (2) Then, receive by PostPet Set it to "delete the mail from the server". In "More settings", do not check the item "Download the unread mail". The server has the information whether the mail is read or not, so once the mail is read by the "other software" it is considered to be read. Sorry, PostPet has no filter. PostPet is a "Greeting mail software for beginners", rather than "complex mail software". It is made for private use, and not for business use. If you receive less than 30 mails a day, there are no problems. But, if you use more than 50 mails a day, we recommend you to use another software simultaneously using the above technique. There are folders and files contained in your PostPet folder. --In-box folder and Out-box folder The data of your mails are here. You don't have to worry about them in most cases. If you are worried that your mails may be lost when you change certain settings, you can make back-ups of the files in this folder. --PostPet configuration Settings of network and pet are here. If you delete it, your pet will disappear. If you keep your password in PostPet, it is in this file (so take care!). --Plug-in folder If you put plug-ins here, something will happen to your pet. The data of the interiors are here, too. Most of behavior of the pet are dependent on the data of plug-ins. If you delete any data here, PostPet might not start,@therefore do not move or delete the data in this folder. --Sweets Types of sweets will increase if you put sweets file here. --Extra guests Types of extra guests will increase if you put extra guests file here.
